Facebook's Parent Company META has launched Horizon World. Initially this was initiated in USA and CANADA.
Horizon Worlds is a free virtual reality, online video game with an integrated game creation system developed and published by Meta Platforms for Oculus Rift S and Oculus Quest 2. It was released in the U.S. and Canada to people 18 years or older on December 9, 2021 after an invite-only beta phase.
Facebook’ parent company META is working on its Metaverse social Platform HORIZON WORLDs for the WEB and Mobile. The CEO of META, Andrew Bosworth told that the upcoming arrival of Horizon world’s web version. He tweeted about this defending META’s 47.5% cut on each transaction.
One of META’s Quest VR Headsets to access the Horizon worlds platform will be needed by you with the launch of web version. META also confirmed that Horizon Worlds is launching on phones later this year.
This development comes in reaction of a tweet highlighting META’s 47.5% cut – 30% from Meta Quest store (+17.5%) platform fee. The fee for meta will be capped for horizon platform at 25%.
This will be done when web version goes live. When Horizon’s web version launches, the horizon platform fee will only be amounted to 25%. This will be lower rate as compared to similar other world building platforms.
If you are out of the loop, Apple also recently called out Meta’s cut (47.5%). Meta is charging 30% commission from developers aiming at Apple for app purchases in the app store – and have used small business and other developers/creators as a scapegoat at every turn.
Right now, Meta is going to charge same creators amply more than any other platform. Meta’s announcement shows its hypocrisy. It shows that while they want to use APPPLE’s platform for free, they happily take from the small businesses and creators that user their own platform.
Horizon Worlds which was launched in December,
2021 is available in Canada and USA.
